Hillside Erosion Control

Hillside erosion is a severe problem caused by stormwater runoff, wind, or human/animal influences grinding and displacing sediment and rock. This process gets increasingly worse overtime and can lead to a plethora of issues such as structural damage, landslides, habitat loss, compromised trees, and worst of all human injury.

California WildFires

A devastating example of hillside erosion is the result of the California wildfires. These wildfires burnt and killed all the vegetation on the steep hillsides and cliffs of northern California. The roots of this vegetation once provided structure for the sediment and held it in place, therefore minimizing erosion. Once gone there was nothing holding the loose sediment, clay, and rock together. In many cases severe landslides occurred, causing structural damage to key infrastructure and injury.
